INSTITUTUM
CANARIUM
A FORUM FOR SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION
The Institutum Canarium was founded in 1969 and has acquired considerable renown as an international and interdisciplinary scientific Society dealing with the cultural history of the Canary Islands and the adjacent Mediterranean.
The dissolution of the membership-oriented Society in 2019 does not mean the end of the research activities; on the contrary a team based around Hans-Joachim Ulbrich has decided to continue the Institutum Canarium on a sheer digital basis and to offer interested scientists a forum for the interchange of ideas and the journalistic representation of findings.
Besides the investigation of rock art and related questions regarding settlement history, language and religion the IC and its friends now as before are engaging in archaeology, anthropology and ethnology
